A conversation with a fellow traveler

The flight to Korea was one of the most exhausting flight I ever had. Not only was it a red eye flight but I had a window seat. The entire flight I had to stay in my seat and bear the burden. The lady sitting next to me was a bit strange, which usually I prefer people a bit weird, but this was a different strange than I would like. She kept laughing out loud from a movie and kept elbowing me when she laughed. She kept talking to the small screen and kept telling me to watch this movie but wouldn't tell me the name. Anyway, upon my arrival, I was greeted by my uncle and preceded to his mother's house. The next day, when I should have been resting, the grandma decided to take me on a looooooong walk around Han River in Mang Won. Luckily, I did not have jet lag for some reason, maybe because I travel so often, but the walk was tiring nonetheless. Under the bridge was an exercise park with exercise machines. I happen to meet a fellow foreigner there and I proceded to ask him if he was from the states. He said no, he was actually from Holland. This excited me since my favorite roommate was a temporary foreign exchange student from Holland. We discussed about the pros and cons of Korea and compared it to the Western hemisphere. I could tell he was very escatic to meet someone he could talk to since he did not speak a lick of Korean and most Koreans do not talk to strangers. Plus, even though they are required to learn English in school, they are too embarrassed by the thought of speaking English incorrectly that they rather feign ignorance and say I don't know English. It was an interesting discussion and we went along our merry way. Today, I had to meet one of my cousin's friend and hang with her. However, I really wish I was not set up on "play dates" like a child. I have my own friends in Korea even though they seem to be unresponsive. Nonetheless, I prefer to make my own acquaintances.
